Meet the quality leadership team of Be Broken Ministries. Our board of directors serves as an advisory panel of individuals from all types of backgrounds and one common passion, seeing people who struggle with sexually addictive behaviors find freedom through a vibrant, growing relationship with Jesus. Homosexual pornography addiction and same-sex attraction plagued his life for many years, trying to stop on his own and failing miserably many times. Lee accepted Jesus Christ, his Savior and Redeemer, at the age of 8 years old, but continued to struggle with his identity in Him. The tentacles of homosexual sin and pornography warped Lee’s sense of self and encouraged a constant battle with idolatry and self-contempt. He acknowledges that God never let him go and heard his desperate cries for help. The Great Physician brought Lee to a place of healing and deliverance and with His help, Lee and his wife Shea now head up Shadow of His Wings Ministry, which provides counseling and support/healing groups for men and women dealing with sexual abuse issues, same-sex attraction, and sexual addiction/desire for purity. Lee is co-host of the Pure Sex Radio show and is a regular counselor at the Gateway to Freedom workshops for men. Lee lives in San Antonio with his wife Shea. They have three children. In addition to experience in major gifts fundraising, Anna has worked in the membership, direct mail, capital campaign, planned giving, finance and marketing segments of the Conservancy. Anna was raised in a churchgoing home, and is blessed to have a true relationship with Jesus Christ. Jonathan & Elaine founded Be Broken Ministries in response to God's miraculous healing in Jonathan's life and their marriage. They have led the outreach full time since the summer of 2003. Jonathan currently serves as Director of the ministry and host of the Pure Sex Radio broadcast (
Stephen Cervantes is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in San Antonio, Texas. He has 20 years experience counseling families and dealing with addiction issues in his clients. Since 1999 he has been helping men find freedom from sexually addictive behaviors. Stephen is co-host of the Pure Sex Radio show, serves on the board of directors for Be Broken Ministries and has written numerous curriculum resources for the ministry.
Duane Ray serves as the Worship Pastor at CrossPointe Church and is the director of CrossBridge Worship Ministries. His heart is to see people enjoy God through vibrant worship and a deepening intimacy with the Savior, Jesus Christ. He is an active member of our board of directors.
Lee is sure that God has, at times, considered him the hard-head of the hard-heads… he fought to have his own way so much throughout life. He is so thankful that God did not turn him over to his own depravity during many times of rebellion.
Anna Sweeden currently serves as the Manager of Major Gifts for The Nature Conservancy’s Texas Chapter in San Antonio. She has been employed in the non-profit sector for 17 years, and with the Conservancy for almost 15 of those years. Committed to service for the betterment of the earth and humankind, working with charitable organizations is her true passion.
David Bohannon is an executive administrator with the Northeast Independent School District in San Antonio. He also serves as chairman of the elder board at Northeast Bible Church. He is active on our board of directors, especially helping with budgetary concerns.
