Your world has been turned upside down. Whether you just discovered your husband's struggle with pornography or sexual sin, or if you have known for quite some time, you are here because it has become unbearable. A large part of the journey to healing for yourself will include becoming equipped with knowledge concerning your husband's battle.

The more you can understand about sexual addiction and how it manifests itself in the life of your husband, the better able you will be to confront your husband in love rather than fear. You will gain insight into why your husband reacts and responds in irrational ways, learn to identify his cycle of shame, and through such knowledge protect yourself emotionally, knowing you are not to blame for his self-centered addiction.

You also must take a journey of education in your own life. Read books about dealing with difficult emotions and setting healthy boundaries personally and in your marriage. God's Word, of course, is a tremendous resource for being reminded of your worth and value to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Soak in such knowledge of truth and you will lay a solid foundation for the healing your heart desires.

I can become educated about my husband's struggle, thereby reducing my tendency to lash out in anger, and rather learn to respond in "tough" love.

I am a precious child of God, cherished and adored. God has a wonderful plan to heal my broken heart and bring beauty from ashes. (Isa. 61:1-3)

I really wondered if I had been more beautiful, thinner, or a perfect housekeeper if Jonathan would not have turned to pornography. In reading about sexual addictions, I learned so much. I learned that even if I was the perfect model with the perfect body, and was the perfect wife, Jonathan would still have had this problem, because it wasn’t about me. He had this problem long before he met me. Really read up on the subject and arm yourself with knowledge. It is a yucky topic to read on, but still - it is good for you.
